DR. ELIJAH LOUIS WHITE

Born: Coffeeville, Alabama, July 12, 1918; Died: October 13, 1979. Founder and Pastor: Cedar Street Baptist Church, Saraland, Alabama and pastor of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church for 22 years.

Dr. White held the following degrees: B.D. Degree in Christian Education; B.D. and D.D. Degrees from Easonian Baptist Seminary, Birmingham, Alabama; organizer of Easonian Seminary, Mobile; member of National Baptist Convention of America; Dean, New Era Progressive State Convention; Dean, Eastern Shore Progressive District Convention; Instructor in Regional Conference Alabama and Florida; member of Baptist Ministers’ Conference of Prichard; member of Human Relations Conference of Southern and National Baptists; 23rd Degree Mason; served in the Armed Forces (M.P.).

GENERAL INFORMATION

Purpose of the Seminary

We seek to provide a theological education to all persons without regard to the level of past academic attainment. Our programs are designed to provide the necessary coursework in order for students to effectively serve in their pastoral ministries and ministries throughout the church.

Our Seminary through its extensions, offer Pastors and lay church workers the opportunity to study and earn degrees and/or certifications at locations close to home. In addition, we offer the convenience of correspondence coursework to those whose work schedule conflict with the ability to meet in a classroom setting.


GOVERNMENT OF THE SEMINARY

The E. L. White Theological Seminary is governed by a Board of Directors who are elected by the Organization of Christian Education, Inc. of Alabama. The organization through its Board of Directors, appoints the administrative officers and faculty and sets the policies governing theological education.

The curriculum and degrees are approved by the board upon the recommendation of the dean and president with consultation and advice from faculty, students and alumni.
